DESIGN
An intricate process where every detail is carefully considered to ensure exceptional design, function, and longevity. Our process focuses on creating pieces that not only look fashion-forward and sophisticated, but are also durable and practical. We blend traditional techniques with innovative designs, ensuring each item embodies the highest standards of quality.
-
BRANDING
Every leather good is branded with a unique serial number, ensuring its authenticity. This number tells the story of the materials, handcrafted artistry, and owner—highlighting the care and craftsmanship that goes into every item.
All branding and monogramming is debossed using a hot stamping machine and solid brass dies. Traditionally, we foil deboss on both the exterior and interior, but we offer the option to blind deboss, which does not use foil.
-
STITCHING
We’ve chosen to saddle stitch our leather goods instead of machine stitch due to it’s durability, strength, and aesthetic. If the thread breaks it will remain intact, where machine stitching can unravel. This makes saddle stitching ideal for high-wear items. We also think it aesthetically looks better—providing clear, uniform stitches.
-
LEATHER
We carefully select premium leathers from trusted tanneries around the world. Each material is chosen for its durability, texture, and ability to improve with age, ensuring that every piece not only exudes luxury but also stands the test of time.
All our exotic leathers are ethically sourced, with a commitment to sustainability and responsible practices, ensuring both quality and integrity in every product we create.
-
LINING
We use a full-grain, combination-tanned chèvre leather from France. The tannery has mastered a 23-step process to complete a single hide, ensuring the highest quality standards are met. This leather is lightweight yet durable, maintaining flexibility without losing strength. It’s scratch and water-resistant, making it ideal for the interior of our handbags and leather goods.
-
HARDWARE
We use 316L stainless steel hardware for our bags because it’s lightweight, hypoallergenic, has exceptional durability, and is corrosion resistant. This ensures that it maintains its strength and appearance over time.
We also use 100% solid brass hardware, known for its incredible strength and resistance to rust and corrosion. Aesthetically, unplated solid brass offers a vintage appearance that develops a natural patina overtime.
-
THREAD
We use a high-quality linen thread from Italy that is finely spun, allowing for tight, uniform stitches. The thread is produced from natural fibers resulting in superior strength and a smooth texture.
While handcrafting your bag, we wax every thread with 100% beeswax and heat it into the thread to ensure a very strong and durable stitch.
-
EDGE INKING
We use a professional-grade edge ink from Italy to finish and seal the edges of our leather goods. It’s renowned for its resistance to cracking, peeling, and fading over time.
All our edges are meticulously painted, sanded, and heated by hand, with the process repeated multiple times. We then finalize the edges by hand polishing them with 100% beeswax, ensuring a smooth and flawless finish.
-
SKIVING
We use a skiving machine equipped with a round bell knife to reduce the thickness of the leather along the edges. This creates a more refined, uniformed finish along the edges.
We also skive by hand using a sharp blade, which gives us greater precision and control for hard-to-reach areas or intricate details. By combining both machine and hand-skiving techniques, we ensure the highest level of craftsmanship in every piece we create.
